About the Author Nancy Braitman

Nancy Braitman, a Special Educator residing in Lafayette Hill, PA, finds joy in captivating children's imaginations through her writing. Inspired by her family, work experience, and beloved pet Milo, she embarked on a journey into children's literature. Her debut book, "Milo Loves the Park," born from Milo's adventures in Wissahickon Park, sparked her passion for storytelling. Following its success, Nancy's newest release, "Milo Loves the Seashore," promises another delightful escapade with playful illustrations and rhythmic text, along with lesson plans for parents to help build reading skills at home.

Growing up in Cheltenham, PA, Nancy's fondness for reading, influenced by her mother's library visits, cultivated her love for books like Dr. Seuss, Amelia Bedilia, Stuart Little, and The Borrowers. Her personal journey took a transformative turn with the birth of her son in 1993, followed by her daughter in 1996, and her son's Autism diagnosis that same year. This experience reshaped her priorities, leading her from a career in computer software sales to pursuing a Master's Degree in Special Education at Chestnut Hill College at the age of 50.

Nancy's professional path transitioned to teaching students on the Autism Spectrum, where she dedicated herself to fostering holistic development in vocational, recreational, social, and academic domains. Despite retiring in 2021, she continues to substitute teach, driven by her passion for inclusive education.

In 2022, the family mourned the loss of their beloved pet Goldie, a loss that prompted them to welcome Milo, a mini berne-doodle, into their lives. Milo's unwavering love became a source of comfort, filling the void left by Goldie's absence and bringing joy to the family during tough times.

In addition to her enchanting tales featuring Milo, Nancy addresses the challenges faced by special needs children in her upcoming book “Autism in a Kind World”. These resources offer support for children, both typical and on the autistic spectrum, empowering them to articulate their emotions and develop coping strategies for difficult situations.

Outside of her literary pursuits, Nancy enjoys engaging in book clubs and indulging in hobbies like pickleball, Canasta, and Mah Jongg. With a heart dedicated to enriching the lives of children and advocating for inclusivity, Nancy Braitman continues to inspire through her writing and her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
